Ways We

Can Help

Premier Pro Services: Your trusted partner for all your service needs.

About Oasis

OASIS has a philosophy of empowerment, which means every survivor is able to make the best decisions for themselves if given the support and resource referrals. We never tell anyone what they need to do. Instead, we help brainstorm ideas and look together at possibilities. We work closely with other helping agencies and can help survivors identify the different avenues of support available to them.

Our Comprehensive Range of Services

Founded in 1978, OASIS, Inc. is dedicated to ending domestic violence and sexual assault in Watauga and Avery Counties, North Carolina. OASIS works toward this mission in three ways, by:

Services

Providing comprehensive emergency services, transitional support, and a safe environment for survivors as they explore options for a violence-free life.

Counseling

Providing education and skill development to encourage families in our community to create and maintain healthy peer and intimate partner relationships that are based on respect and equality.

Support

Helping to create a community that supports survivors through advocacy and education.

College Students

All OASIS services are 100% free and confidential, and are available to everyone in our community, including students. Services include a 24-hour crisis line in English and in Spanish; confidential, emergency shelter; transitional and permanent supportive housing; crisis counseling; information and referrals; legal and medical advocacy; support groups; and prevention programs.

We encourage all of our clients to seek as much support as possible, and to utilize the types of support that make them most comfortable. It can be a good idea to seek services from multiple offices. For example, this could include the OASIS office as well as the Appalachian State Counseling Center.

When seeking support, an OASIS advocate or other support person may encourage you to create a safety plan. If you are both attending the same college or university, this safety plan should include the campus. For example, do you attend class in the same building as your partner? Does your partner park in the same parking lot? These are important factors to include in your safety plan.
