Ways We
Can Help
Premier Pro Services: Your trusted partner for all your service needs.
About Oasis
OASIS has a philosophy of empowerment, which means every survivor is able to make the best decisions for themselves if given the support and resource referrals. We never tell anyone what they need to do. Instead, we help brainstorm ideas and look together at possibilities. We work closely with other helping agencies and can help survivors identify the different avenues of support available to them.
Our Comprehensive Range of Services
Founded in 1978, OASIS, Inc. is dedicated to ending domestic violence and sexual assault in Watauga and Avery Counties, North Carolina. OASIS works toward this mission in three ways, by:
Services
Providing comprehensive emergency services, transitional support, and a safe environment for survivors as they explore options for a violence-free life.
Counseling
Providing education and skill development to encourage families in our community to create and maintain healthy peer and intimate partner relationships that are based on respect and equality.
Support
Helping to create a community that supports survivors through advocacy and education.
Support Groups
OASIS holds a support group for survivors of domestic violence. The group is free and confidential, and emphasizes the use of expressive arts.
Shelter
OASIS can provide free temporary emergency shelter at a confidential location for victims and children fleeing intimate partner violence or sex trafficking.
Short Term Crisis Support
Our experienced staff is trained in providing support to survivors of domestic and sexual violence through trauma-informed service protocols.
Outreach and Education
Learn more about the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence by inviting our staff to present information to your business, civic, or faith-based organization. Email outreach@oasisinc.org for more information.
Case Management
Our client service staff provides case management as one way of empowering survivors to make their own choices about their lives.
Community Resource Information
OASIS works closely with other service providers in the community, and we stay up to date on any changes in social services.
Judicial Advocacy
OASIS staff provides information, referrals, advocacy and support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault within the court system.
Medical Advocacy
OASIS advocates are available to provide support for survivors who have experienced a sexual assault. An advocate can be present for the forensic exam, and can provide information about OASIS services and options for moving forward.
College Students
All OASIS services are 100% free and confidential, and are available to everyone in our community, including students. Services include a 24-hour crisis line in English and in Spanish; confidential, emergency shelter; transitional and permanent supportive housing; crisis counseling; information and referrals; legal and medical advocacy; support groups; and prevention programs.
We encourage all of our clients to seek as much support as possible, and to utilize the types of support that make them most comfortable. It can be a good idea to seek services from multiple offices. For example, this could include the OASIS office as well as the Appalachian State Counseling Center.
When seeking support, an OASIS advocate or other support person may encourage you to create a safety plan. If you are both attending the same college or university, this safety plan should include the campus. For example, do you attend class in the same building as your partner? Does your partner park in the same parking lot? These are important factors to include in your safety plan.
